What Are Some Unique / Creative Marketing Tactics I Can Use For An Independent Movie?
I am writing my first feature independent film that I plan on shooting in February or March. I am hoping to get some ideas (I’ve read a lot of case studies) about creative marketing and getting press on a film.
I want to be the female Tyler Perry (doing it without big studios financing me) and tell movies where the main characters are women of color.

You could easily get kids/teens to volunteer to be extras for free, maybe give them a free pass to the showing or something… If there’s a local school you like a lot, you could always ask for kids to volunteer and then give the school a free copy to screen in the auditorium one night for the community to come see and just charge a dollar or something like that.
MySpace, Facebook, and other networking sites are great, too.
You could rent a shop front on a busy road for say a week advertising your film. In the shop front you could have the characters in your film doing a living advertisement all day evey day to try and gain media attention. They did something like that where I live and every day they had a beautiful woman taking a bath in the shop front. It gained A LOT of attention!
